Landscape Design

AENA recognizes the importance of landscape in the design process and the inclusion of this important discipline within our integrated design approach.  The extension of our design concepts beyond the building boundary reinforces our holistic solutions to the project site boundaries.  The integration of landscape and building is at the heart of AENA’s design approach.  In tandem with our strong emphasis on sustainability; integration of landscape and building in both urban and greenfield contexts reinforces and infuses our building and urban design.

We understand that landscape design is often the first impression of a site and creates a context for the built environment. The dialogue between context, landscape and building sets the stage for great design solutions.  We try to understand that dialogue to find the appropriate design solution for each project.  In each landscape we strive to reinforce the overall project design goals.

Integration between building and site is a key element of our design philosophy.  We extend design concepts from within the building out to the site and from the site to the interior of the building.  On larger scale projects we take the same approach with urban design concepts to strengthen and reinforce ideas for maximum benefit and cost effectiveness for each project.  We also try to integrate our buildings with their site and context on a technical level for sustainability to re-use resources and energy efficiency.

AENA specifies native and low maintenance vegetation in keeping with our sustainable approach for all our landscape design.  If the project is to be LEED certified, we can create a landscape design utilizing “Xeriscaping” to achieve a high level of credits and insure that the project area uses as little water as possible.  This creates a landscape solution with even less maintenance and also reduces site runoff.

Based on project budget and client need, we can develop a cost effective and attractive landscape solution for each project that reinforces our base building or urban design concepts for the site
